By using this website, submitting an inquiry, or purchasing an order, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to these Terms and Conditions, as well as ourย Privacy Policyย andย Disclosure Statement.

who we are

Established in 2010, Miliโ€™s Sweets is a woman-owned dessert catering business serving San Diego County. Weโ€™re honored to be a preferred vendor with multiple venues and are highly recommended by our clients for our exceptional care and service. Fully certified, licensed, permitted, and insured, we bring professionalism and reliability to every event.

Our menu features small-batch, custom recipes – each made to order. We offer both simple and full-service options, specializing in weddings and dessert tables while also serving single orders and large events.

Miliโ€™s Sweets is owned and operated by Milissa Takashima (DBA Miliโ€™s Sweets). Booking with us supports a local, woman-owned small business dedicated to the care and details to help celebrate the most memorable days.

We offer custom cakes for single-tier display, and an extensive dessert menu. Our customers rely on our carefully-crafted products that are always completely nut-free, with other dietary options like gluten free and vegan.

OPERATION & SERVICE AREA

closed to the public
location is a rented commercial kitchen facility: SAE Kitchen in San Marcos, California. 
We do not offer a storefront, door knock-ins, or in-person visits unless it’s during a tasting pick-up. No mail or correspondence is accepted or received to our kitchen facility address. Mili is contacted via website form, email, text or phone call. We do not keep track of, or respond to social media messaging. 
office hours tend to be Mondays and Tuesdays for scheduled calls, responding to emails. Other days of the week are production or order fulfillment days – onsite at venues typically from Thursdays-Sundays.
Unless on vacation-mode, Mili is available via text most any time for a quick response.

BOOKING: WHAT TO EXPECT

We are a first-booked, first served business
If ordering for a wedding, event, or special occasion, these are the steps. 
We’re here to guide and answer any questions along the way.

+ Contact Mili via either emailtext/phone, or our contact form to ask about our availability for your date and venue location
+ If we confirm we are available, schedule a free consultation call. Mili will follow up with a no obligation estimate document with an expiration date.
+ If possible, order a tasting package for curbside pick-up. If your final order (for products only) are valued at $300 or more, the $30 cost of one package will be refunded to you.
+ If you would like to book with us, let us know in writing as soon as possible, via text or email before your estimate-document expiration date, and we will follow up with an invoice document where you will purchase your order.
+ Please note that taxes, tips, fees, or service charges are not included as a factor on our orders or invoicing.
+ If your document expires, and is not paid by the due date, it will void your document and offerings for services, cancelling Mili’s Sweets availability to fulfill vendor service(s) for you.
+ By processing payment for your invoice, you agree to the terms and conditions, detailed here, and on your document.
+ Once paid in full, your custom order is confirmed and set onto our schedule.
+ After your payment has cleared, we go into our merchant services to manually provide you with a receipt via email.
+ You can make any changes to your order you’d like up to your finalization date (one month before the fulfillment date). Changes may include: a) making non-transaction adjustments to flavors or decorating details, b) removing some items from your order for a partial refund applied at the time of change, c) adding products/services with a balance due at that time, or d) canceling to receive a refund. 
+ If a certificate of insurance from Mili’s Sweets is needed by your venue, please be sure to request this before your finalization date, and provide the accurate contact and legal info required, and we will process this for you. This must be done before your final check-in.
+ Option to cancel: For custom orders, before your finalization date, you can fully-cancel your order for a full refund minus 10% of your total purchase to cover admin time/payment processing costs.
(For example, a final $300 order paid, would provide a $270 refund to the customer.)
+ A change to the date of this order fulfillment, would require you to cancel your order. Orders cancelled after the finalization date are non-refundable.
+ If you’re good to go, and have no changes, you would hear from us next for a ‘final check-in’. Otherwise, you’d keep in touch with us in writing, to be sure that your order is just right and that there are no pending details or choices, with the goal to be completely set by your finalization date.
+ You will receive a written ‘final check-in’ within 1-2 weeks before your fulfillment date.
+ By your final check-in we will be set with all details, and will have already communicated with your coordinator or venue.
+ On the day of fulfillment, we arrive within our confirmed window of time.

FULFILLMENT

  • For a coordinated pick-up (online or custom order) you will receive a text the day before to confirm the meet-up details.
  • All other custom orders receive a ‘final check-in’ via email or text to confirm that we are set with specific details.
  • For delivery-only service, we make sure we communicate with the onsite service team and have a packing slip with contact information, and take photos of our delivery with all products in perfect condition.

RECIPe NOTES

  • Always free of peanuts and tree nuts. Mili’s Sweets products are made completely free of peanuts and tree nuts. All ingredients are peanut and nut free. There is no possibility of cross contamination.
  • Your order will be made all classic-recipe unless otherwise noted as, vegan, dairy free, gluten free, etc. Possible allergen-ingredients used to produce a classic recipe order include dairy, eggs, wheat/gluten, and possibly soy.
  • Coconut is literally a seed. Coconut is not a tree nut. We offer coconut and label products on our menu.
  • Gluten free products are made celiac safe, because of our separate-use tools and careful processes. We have a separate scheduled production, when we bake exclusively gluten free so there are no airborne wheat particles.
  • Vegan products have a separate scheduled production, when we bake exclusively vegan so there is no contamination of dairy or egg products. 
  • It is the responsibility of the customer/client to let us know about any allergy notes, or ingredient preferences. All orders are fulfilled as they are noted from online listings or invoice documents.
  • If you have specific questions about our desserts, processes, or specific ingredients, please contact Mili directly. We would be happy to schedule a call to chat, or answer any questions you have via email or text.

FOOD SAFETY

We always prioritize food safety. 
All dessert products are fresh-made and perishable. For best results, desserts should always be shaded from direct sun, protected by outside elements as best as possible, and handled with care. If you have questions or notes about how to best care for your particular order, please contact Mili directly.

With Pick-Up or Delivery-Only Services Desserts are packaged in containers for easy and safe transport. Orders are carefully reviewed by the vendor, and accepted by the client and/or coordinator/representative of the client at the time of scheduled pick-up or delivery. Once the order is accepted, the safekeeping and display of dessert products are the responsibility of the accepting party.*

* By booking with Mili’s Sweets, you acknowledge that food handling and food safety is serious. Any individual (venue-appointed or client-hired) displaying or handling food/desserts must hold a valid San Diego County food handler card – a pre-tested government-approved document. Appointing unqualified persons is at your own risk.

With Full Service Packages: If Mili’s Sweets is hired to deliver, setup and teardown at a venue or event, we are responsible for the safekeeping and display of desserts from the order, within the reasonable indoor or outdoor environment, tables, and layout provided by the client/venue/coordinator representative. Once the work is complete and fulfilled according to our agreements, photos and notes are documented. After our setup is complete, we leave the location, and the desserts and safekeeping of our display property (pedestals and risers) become the responsibility of the client/venue/coordinator representative until return at the end of the evening to pick up our display property at the designated teardown time.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes arising from the use of our website or services will be handled in the appropriate manner.

We always aim to resolve any concerns directly, quickly, and respectfully with our clients. Should an issue arise, please contact Mili immediately to discuss a fair resolution.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Once products are accepted at pickโ€‘up or delivery, Miliโ€™s Sweets is not responsible for any damage, spoilage, or outcomes caused by handling, display conditions, transportation, or storage outside our care.

Miliโ€™s Sweets shall not be liable for delays or nonโ€‘performance caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control including natural disasters, severe weather, accidents, or supply shortages. In case by case situations, clients may be offered rescheduling or partial refunds as appropriate.

To the fullest extent permitted by California law, Miliโ€™s Sweets is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of this site or our products.

Digital Media & Creative Works:

All images, designs, and creative works presented on our website, social media, and printed materials remain the property of Miliโ€™s Sweets and may not be used, reproduced, or altered without express written permission.

  • We are booked-out at least a month in advance (typically more). We do not tend to book more than 8 months in advance.
  • We service orders as small as a single order, up to thousands of servings for a single event.
  • Mili’s Sweets is fully certified, licensed, permitted and insured to serve the County of San Diego. 
  • We only offer coordinated pick-up for orders that are to be self-transported or enjoyed in counties outside San Diego.
  • Estimate documents are provided upon request and are without obligation.
  • Our pricing is subject to change, and honored on valid estimates and invoices.
  • Taxes, tips, fees, or service charges are not included as a factor on our products, services, online orders, or invoices.

TASTING OPPORTUNITIES

To taste and see Mili’s Sweets without a custom order, you can reserve a set-menu tasting package for curbside pick-up. This offering is made once monthly, most months of the year.

Customers can order up to two packages just for fun, or in advance of a custom order.

The value of one package ($30) is reimbursed onto any single custom order with cake/desserts valued at $300 or more.

ORDER DETAILS

  • Custom orders are fulfilled per the details clearly noted and listed on the finalized invoice and confirmation document. 
  • If specific flavors or decorating details for a booked-order are not specified/chosen by the client within their finalization date, or after their finalization date has passed, we/the caterer and vendor, will select and decide these particular details on behalf of the client.
  • We appreciate the opportunity and your trust in our creative liberty with some finishing touches and to the detailed-look of your cake/desserts, as everything is handmade with care and artistry per custom order. If there is a super-specific detail you’d like us to be sure we incorporate or wish not to have, please make sure it is listed on this document. If it is not, contact Mili by your finalization date and we would be happy to make any possible adjustments.

Vendorโ€‘Initiated Cancellations

In the rare circumstance that Miliโ€™s Sweets must cancel an order due to emergency, kitchen damage, natural disaster, or other uncontrollable cause, we will promptly notify the client and offer: either a) 100% refund, or b) provide a reschedule-option – per client preference.

Refund Policy &
Client-Initiated Cancellations

refunds for tasting package orders (online only)
Cancel in writing (text/email) within 48 hours of fulfillment for full refund. 
Otherwise, non-refundable.

refunds for other/seasonal orders (online only)
Non-refundable once placed.

refunds for cancelling custom/catering orders
Fully-cancel up to the invoice finalization date for a partial refund to include 90% of the original total purchase returned – minus 10% retained to cover admin time plus non-refundable processing costs.
Example: $300 order โ†’ $270 refunded.
Orders cancelled after the finalization date are non-refundable. 

refunds with custom order adjustments
If your order is still active (not fully cancelled) and you request changes to your custom order before your finalization date that involve a refund, we will issue a 100% refund for the adjusted amount to your original payment method.
Please note that we incur the processing loss from your original payment transaction when these changes occur.

All refunds process within seven business days. 

Refunds within 90 days of booking are made toward the original payment method. Outside 90 days, we coordinate a traceable, documented refund method most convenient for both parties – without the option of cash refunds.

All of our products are final. There are no returns or refunds post-fulfillment, acceptance, or surrender.

PAYMENTS

  • Payments are processed securely via (SureCart / Stripe / Wave Payments) using their third-party encrypted connections.
  • We do not charge: tax, fees, or include service charges.
  • We do not accept Cash-On-Delivery payments for booking orders (gratuity only).
  • We do not accept Venmo payments for booking orders (gratuity only).
  • We cannot accept PayPal or Zelle payments for booking orders or gratuity.
  • For online orders, payments use secure third-party processors where you select your preferred merchant and cardโ€”with no personal payment details taken or stored.
  • For custom orders and invoices, we offer clients the convenience to book/pay for custom orders by or before invoice due-dates, in whatever method is most convenient. If a card payment, it is made directly from the invoice document where a third party processor handles your payment using the card of your choice. Otherwise, we can make arrangements for a business or personal check payment.
    We do not keep or store your personal information. The only information we retain is the contact information you voluntarily provide, used for correspondence.
  • About privacy and data: We retain only the contact information you provide for order correspondenceโ€”nothing else.

TRANSACTION PROCESSING

+ Fees and taxes are not included or charged.
+ Mili’s Sweets pays up to 3.5% plus additional fees per transaction payment received. These fees are automatically deducted from payments made to us through merchant-processing, with the total amount depending on the (payment processing) card company chosen by the customer. 
+ Any payment processing-loss is absorbed by our small business, and is reflected in the current pricing and costs of our products and services.
+ Once a payment is processed, the processing fee is taken by the merchant and is not refunded to us or to our customer.
+ In the case when a custom order is refunded (partially or fully) to the customer, it will be minus 10% of the total purchase amount – covering admin time and payment processing costs.

SERVICE GRATUITY 

As a caterer, Mili’s Sweets is a service. 

Mili’s Sweets welcomes and greatly appreciates gratuities. Tips are entirely up to customer discretion. Our invoices exclude tax, tip, and service fees.

At times, we donโ€™t always receive the gratuity or personal note a client intends for our small team. If youโ€™d like to share a written thank-youโ€”whether or not it includes a monetary giftโ€”weโ€™d truly love to receive it. To ensure it reaches us, please hand any envelope or gratuity directly to a member of the Miliโ€™s Sweets team, or contact Mili after service for feedback or mailing details.
